WMD designed and built a receiver to support a NASA lidar receiver development program. The receiver is designed to detect water vapor and methane using differential absorption lidar on a SmallSat platform.
The design includes multiple miniature mechanical Risley pairs for beam steering, and several temperature controlled, air spaced miniature Etalon assemblies. The design also extensively uses Invar-36 low expansion material which is very challenging to machine and maintain dimensional stability.
The assembly is approximately 15.7" wide, 14.9" long and 3.1" tall, and weighs about 25 lbs.
